BeeWise ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our gardening companion application.

2.1 Information You Provide

• Account Information: Email address, name (optional), and password when you create an account.
• Garden Data: Information about your garden beds, plants, tasks, and preferences.
• Photos: Plant images you upload for identification or to document your garden.
• Location: Your general location (city/region) to provide climate-appropriate gardening advice.
• Communications: Messages you send through the Head Gardener chat feature.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

• Device Information: Device type, operating system, and app version.
• Usage Data: How you interact with the app, features used, and error logs.

3. How We Use AI

BeeWise uses artificial intelligence to provide personalized gardening advice. When you use AI-powered features:

• Plant Identification: Photos you submit are sent to our AI providers (OpenAI, Google) for analysis. These images are processed to identify plants and are not stored by our AI providers beyond the processing session.
• Head Gardener Chat: Your garden context and messages are sent to AI providers to generate personalized responses.
• Smart Tasks: Your garden data is analyzed by AI to suggest relevant gardening tasks.

We do not use your data to train AI models. AI providers process data according to their privacy policies with data processing agreements in place.

4. How We Use Your Information

• Provide and improve our gardening services
• Generate personalized plant care recommendations
• Sync your garden data across devices (for registered users)
• Send important service notifications
• Respond to your inquiries and support requests
• Analyze usage patterns to improve the app

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely using industry-standard encryption:

• All data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS)
• Database and storage are encrypted at rest
• We use Supabase for secure data management
• Guest users: Data is stored locally on your device only
• Registered users: Data is synced to secure cloud storage

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We may share data with:

• AI Service Providers: OpenAI and Google for AI-powered features (under data processing agreements)
• Infrastructure Providers: Supabase for database and authentication services
• Legal Requirements: When required by law or to protect our rights

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access: Request a copy of your data
• Correction: Update inaccurate information
• Deletion: Delete your account and all associated data (available in Profile → Account Settings)
• Withdraw Consent: Opt out of optional data processing

8. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. Upon account deletion:

• All personal data is permanently deleted within 30 days
• Anonymized usage statistics may be retained for analytics
• Backup copies are purged according to our retention schedule

9. Children's Privacy

BeeWise is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us immediately.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policy in the app and updating the "Last updated" date.
